so 2/3=x/(3x+y)
multiply both sides by 3x+y
(2(3x+y))/3=x
(6x+2y)/3=x
multiply by 3
6x+2y=3x
subtract 6x form both sdies
2y=-3x
-3x=2y
the ratio of x to y is
-3:2
