Four characteristics of the monsoon rain fall in India would be unsteady,long,wet and uncertain.It is unsteady and uncertain because some times the rain fall can increase in the amount suddenly and then go back to normal and the winds are not like your typical trade winds instead their much more unsteady.Furthermore they are long and wet since obviously it rains and they tend to durate from 100 to 120 days from early June to mid September and that's pretty long.
