x = [tex]\frac{1}{4}[/tex] is the restricted value

the denominator of the fraction cannot be zero as this would make it undefined.

Equating the denominator to zero and solving gives the value that x cannot be

solve : 8x - 2 = 0 → 8x = 2 → x = [tex]\frac{1}{4}[/tex]
