These are all powers of [tex]y[/tex] being multiplied and divided, so the result will be a power of [tex]y[/tex].  We add up the exponents in the numerator and subtract the ones in the denominator.

[tex]\dfrac{ y^ 5 y^3 }{y^2} = y^{5 + 3 - 2} = y^6[/tex]
